IBS 25 - HEBREWS 13:17

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Hebrews 13:17

I have been blessed. Before coming to Ignite I had amazing leadership. They were constantly and consistently pouring into my life. Not only with encouragement but correction in love reminding me of what we’re pressing onto. Now looking back I realize the places I had a hard time submitting. In my heart. It was easier for me to submit in action but continue in my heart. That is something God has really been refining in me. Being here at Ignite has been amazing. But I didn’t realize how much I just submit in my actions verses my heart. I don’t recall reading this verse before. But it’s say “ they are keeping watch over your souls “ which is crazy. But it shows even in the leadership here at Ignite. Their diligence and desire to pour into us. Their desire for brokenness in our lives to Christ. Their desire for us to abandon it all for Him. I see how they love and how they are keeping watching. It’s not easy, and it’s even harder when those you are loving and keeping watch over don’t submit and kick back. It can cause a lot of hurt and damage to relationships. And in the same verse we’re encouraged to “ do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. “ So often if even just in my heart I have no joy and complain or grumble it affects the way I am able to participate. I am thankful for leaders who desire to lead us and who desire for us to have joy in all of it. Because they know it will be to our advantage. 


Application - I will thank the leaders today for keeping watch over us. On Monday I will also call back home and thank my leaders there. Anna will keep me accountable.

IBS 39 - MATTHEW 18:15

Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. Matthew 18:15 I don’t like conflict. I don’t like telling people when I feel that I’ve been wronged. It makes me afraid. I have a hard to time with people pleasing. So making someone upset isn’t something I enjoy. So going to someone if I feel I’ve been wronged is hard. For what seems like years, God has been growing me in this area. I have had a fun time in a lot of different relationships and having to deal with resolving conflict. Which hasn’t been easy. Because I know He desires for His body to live in unity. But fear cripples me from saying anything. Yet here we’ve been called to go, seek out our brother or sister, and resolve it. It’s love. That is something that has taken me a while to start grasping. IBS 78 - LUKE 3:8

Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.  Luke 3:8 Here John the Baptist is talking to the multitudes and calling for repentance. I have heard this verse many a time. And always just said yes and amen because it’s a “good verse”. Yet as I have gone through the book of Luke it just hit hard. So many times I think I’ve repented of sin yet my heart remains that same. My sin does not disgust me. I say “okay, better not do that again. But oh man, wasn’t it fun. Didn’t please God, but what fond memories.” That view of my sin is not repentance. I am not seeing my sin as something which separates me from communion with my Father. I just see it as a fun pass-time I probably should be involved in anymore. True repentance bears fruit not only in my life but in my heart and mind. I should be disgusted by my sin and truly despise it.
